Some sanskrit verses

The whole thing is called Subhashita slokam (Subhashitam means Qualities).

Let us start with the known one. The first phrase will be told by Yuki Sethu in Anbe shivam, if you try to remember.

PUSTHAKAM VANITHA VITTHAM PARA-HASTHA-GATHAM, GATHAM!

ADHAVAA PUNAR-AGACCHETJEERNAM BHRASHTAA CHA KHANDASAH !!

(A book, wife and money, if gone to another's hands, are gone! If at

all they come back, the book will be rotten and useless. the wife, fit

to be out-cast and money in bits and pieces.)

KARYESHU DASEE KARANESHU MANTHREE,

ROOPESHU LAKSHMEE KSHAMAYA DHARITHREE!

SNEHE CHA MAATHA SAYANE THU VESYAA

SHAT-KARMA-YUKTHA KULA-DHARMA-PATHNEE!!

(Like a maid-servant in domestic duties, like a minister in discussing

home matters, in form like Mahalakshmi, in love like a mother, in bed

like a Vesya, these six role-plays are enjoined for a Kula-sthree (a

respectable house-wife.)

VIVAADA-SEELAAM SWAYAM-ARTTHA-CHORINEEM

PARA-ANUKOOLAM PARIHAASA-BHAASHINEEM

AGRAASINEEM ANYA-GRIHA-PRAVESINEEM

THYAJANTHI BHAARYAM DASA-PUTHRA-MAATHARAM!!

(Habituated to quarrel with the husband all the time, rob house-hold

wealth, easily accessible to others, making fun of the husband all the

time, always eating before the husband, frequenting other peoples'

houses, a wife, even if a mother of ten children, is fit to be discarded!)

-- Ends the Subhashita for a wife.

AamanthraNotsava vipra gavo navathrunotsavah;

Bharthagamotsava naaryah, soham Krishna ranotsavah.

Arjuna tells Krishna---"For an average brahmana, invitation for a feast

is pleasing; for cows, new lush grass, for the housewife, the arrival of

the husband; and to me, the most pleasing thing is war.

Vipra-hasthe dhanam dadyat, swa-bharyasu cha youvanam;

Swami-karyeshu cha praanam, nischayo mama Madhava!"

This is told by Karna to Krishna: "Whatever riches i have earned,

should be distributed to brahmanas, my youthfulness to my wives and my

praana in the service of God." This is my decision, O Madhava!

Mera Bharath Mahan

Couple of interesting news clips.

The first one is one of those mythical things. Once upon a time in India, when all the politicians were working for their country, they were so dedicated that they did not even think about their family. One such heir, is now selling newspapers for livelihood.
