Seven Falls Hike - Santa Barbara

Well, i did hike after a long gap and so thought i will also blog which i haven't done for quite a while now.

The hike is called Seven Falls hike, which is on the mission canyon, santa barbara, ca. More details can be found on the link given - http://www.santabarbarahikes.com/hikes/frontcountry/7falls.shtml

The link given in the blog says "Most people in some kind of decent shape can handle these hikes, but because of the rock hopping most people end up a little sore the next day". I am blogging with soreness all over my body and that "little" is a lil untrue. Its really hard if you have not done rock climbing.

Good part is that, once you reach the peak, its an amazing pool and you can enjoy the beauty and it definitely gives you a sense of accomplishment. The hike starts with a short pathway that leads to the falls. Once you reach the falls, its just small rocks. Now there are three ways to reach the top, walk/swim on the water and climb the small falls up. The other way is to climb up the rocks and take the steep route, a lil bit scary but fun. The other way is to climb on the side rocks of the pools. This will be fun if the water is flowing as, there is a high risk of falling on the water :-)

We started around 8:30 in the morning, walked our way through the pool and somehow reached the steep route. The first half was easy but it just started to climb up. We decided to come down which was a big task of its own. Once we finished that steep climb, it was a some simple rock climbing and we went across pass through the two pools and reach the third one on the top. The water is so clear & flowing and on a sunny day(like we had in our hike) it will be so good to get drenched and spend good time on the pool. We spent around good half hour and started back.

On the way back, we took the side route to climb on the rocks beside water. We literally had to search for those finger hole sized crevices to grip our hands and walk our way back on the rocks. Some took the easier water route and we did try to climb on the rocks and reach down.

The whole hike was around 4.5 hours and since we walk through the greens through out the way and that keeps us from getting tired.

Good hike after a really long time and it was worth it. I would recommend this for all my friend readers.
